Fire Protection Intumescent Coatings
Intumescent has fast become an important aspect of Building Code compliance. We specialize in the application of Intumescent coatings and have a raft of regular clients who trust us to do the job.
We are approved applicators of Intumescent Coatings for Altex Paints & Zone Architectural Coatings.
We have worked with Christchurch’s leading architects and building companies to provide them with fire protection coating solutions to meet Council’s Building Code and Fire Service regulations.
We also have all the application equipment to handle projects of any size and measurement tools to ensure the required burn time specifications are achieved for both structural steel and wood.
Steel Intumescent coatings are designed to insulate the steel and prevent its temperature from rising above a certain point, allowing time for occupants to leave the building in case of fire. Intumescent for steel protection is usually thick and opaque and finished with a thin protective fire retardant coat, similar to a gloss.
Protecting timber structures
Timber Intumescent coatings are designed to reduce heat propagation and the spread of flame. It may also be used to protect valuable woodwork. Intumescent for wood protection is usually transparent to allow the character of the wood to show through.
